Wait In Silence

Psalm 62:5  

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,

 What does it mean to wait in silence?  

It is an emptying of selfish desire, but not a lack of desire.

Letting go of personal agenda, but not listlessness.

Releasing self reliance, but not being  abandoned.

It is not hurry, but patience.

Relief from anxiousness about the how or whats of life, 

but a quiet confidence to move.

Not just a quieting of fear, but a deepening trust.

Not so much analysis, as openness. 

Not directionless, but direction.

Not despair, but hope. 

 

 5 For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,

for my hope is from him.

6 He only is my rock and my salvation,

my fortress; I shall not be shaken.

7 On God rests my salvation and my glory;

my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
